Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with standard business hours of 9am-5pm EST, Monday to Friday.

As a leadership role supporting clients and active market research projects, occasional work outside regular business hours may be required to address urgent client or fieldwork needs. Additional hours and overtime, where applicable, will be managed in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA).

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Manager, Online Project Management. During a temporary leadership transition, the successful candidate will receive day-to-day leadership and support from an experienced consultant.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $75,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The Team Lead, Online Project Management is responsible for leading and supporting a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators while helping ensure market research projects are delivered on time, on budget, and according to client requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines people management, client service, project oversight, resource planning, and problem-solving.

The successful candidate will be proactive, organized, process-driven, and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment. They will work closely with their team and other departments to identify risks early, resolve project challenges, and consistently deliver a positive client experience.

Depending on project volume and team capacity, the Team Lead may also manage active projects directly.

What a Typical Day May Look Like

• Reviewing active projects, timelines, budgets, and team priorities
• Supporting Project Managers and Project Coordinators with project challenges
• Monitoring team workload and allocating projects based on capacity and experience
• Meeting with team members to discuss performance, priorities, and development
• Working with clients and internal teams to resolve escalated issues
• Reviewing fieldwork, sampling, quotas, incidence rates, response rates, and other project metrics
• Coaching team members and identifying training opportunities
• Collaborating with other Team Leads and leadership to improve processes and resolve operational issues

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, coach, and support a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and weekly team touchpoints
• Conduct mid-year and year-end performance reviews
• Develop individual plans to support employee performance, development, and career growth
• Identify training needs and provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and support
• Communicate company priorities, expectations, and changes clearly to the team
• Help create a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment
• Support team-building and employee engagement activities

Project and Resource Management

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and according to client specifications
• Allocate projects based on team capacity, individual skill sets, project complexity, and client requirements
• Monitor team workload and bandwidth and identify potential resource gaps
• Proactively identify project risks and support the team in troubleshooting and resolving challenges
• Make informed decisions related to fieldwork, sampling, quotas, tabulations, timelines, and other project requirements
• Take ownership of active projects when required to support team capacity and client needs
• Promote consistent use of established project management processes and procedures

Client Service

• Build, maintain, and strengthen client relationships
• Act as an escalation point for clients and internal teams when challenges arise
• Work with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to ensure client expectations are clearly understood and managed
• Support the resolution of client concerns in a professional and timely manner
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve the overall client experience
• Develop a strong understanding of clients’ businesses and research needs

Process Improvement and Collaboration

• Identify opportunities to improve Project Management processes, tools, and workflows
• Work collaboratively with other Team Leads, departments, and senior leadership to resolve operational challenges
• Encourage consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Project Management team
• Support initiatives that improve team efficiency, quality, capability, and capacity

Recruitment and Onboarding

• Monitor staffing needs based on workload and anticipated business requirements
• Support recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and hiring recommendations
• Support the onboarding and training of new Project Managers and Project Coordinators

• Response rates
• Fieldwork management
• Survey timelines and project requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• University or college degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
• 5 years of relevant experience in project management, market research, client service, or a related field
• Previous experience leading, coaching, or supervising employees is strongly preferred
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
