Position summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of market research projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification while maintaining a positive client experience. The Project Manager serves as the primary operational point of contact for clients on assigned projects and mentors junior staff.

This position requires a strong technical aptitude, strong initiative, and the ability to multitask and prioritize.

Standard hours are approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet client deadlines, in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), including applicable overtime provisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary client contact for assigned projects, providing updates on project progress, field performance, and key metrics.
• Lead project kick-off calls and provide strategic guidance throughout the project lifecycle
• Make operational decisions related to project timelines, sampling, and field management
• Mentor and train junior staff and Project Coordinators to support project delivery
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, sample plans, quotas, and survey metrics to ensure projects remain on track.
• Report on all key survey metrics after pre-testing, including net expected incidence and interview length
• Ensure project files are organized, up-to-date, and archived
• Lead staff briefings as required: e.g., brief mall or on-site face-to-face studies with interviewers and supervisors in Toronto or/and other locations
• Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate complex project issues to senior leadership.

As part of a collaborative team environment, employees may occasionally assist with related tasks outside the core responsibilities listed above.

Skills and Experience:

• Excellent project management and customer service experience, ideally in market research industry
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a creative approach to developing solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of sampling methodology, quotas, incidence rates, and familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Self-motivated, professional, and collaborative approach
• Familiar with and keen to learn more about newer research methods, e.g., eye-tracking, heatmaps, facial coding, online qualitative
• Active listener with demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to work outside of typical work hours as needed by clients, with appropriate compensation in accordance with the ESA.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 3 years of relevant market research experience
• 2 years of project management experience in market research
• Legally entitled to work in Canada

The Project Operations Assistant provides operational and administrative support to our Project Management team. This role helps ensure projects run smoothly but does not independently manage or lead projects. You will assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators with sampling, quality checks, and other project-related tasks, mainly during evenings and weekends when studies are in field.

This is an ideal role for someone detail-oriented who is interested in market research operations and wants flexible, part-time hours for a defined term.

What a typical day might look like

• Checking survey links for errors before they go live
• Monitoring survey completes and quota progress
• Preparing and sending survey invitations using internal and third-party tools
• Performing basic data quality checks
• Updating project documentation for the project team

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators with day-to-day project tasks
• Set up and execute sampling pulls following established specifications and instructions
• Perform quality checks on survey links, routing, and basic logic tests
• Monitor field progress (completes, incidence, quotas) and flag issues to the Project Manager or Project Coordinator
• Help prepare and send survey invitations using internal and third-party tools
• Support basic data checks and validation (e.g., obvious speeders, straight-lining, missing data) following defined rules
• Maintain organized project files and documentation
• Complete other administrative tasks as required to support the Project Management team

Skills and experience

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working with data in spreadsheet tools (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets)
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple small tasks at once
• Prior experience in market research, data entry, customer service, or admin support is an asset, but not required if you have strong technical and organizational skills
• Able to work independently during evenings/weekends with remote support as needed.
